  • The Black key pattern 2-3

  • The White Key pattern 3-4

  • Find the Cs

  • Find Middle C

While it may seem overly simple, let’s start with taking a look at The Keys of a piano.  The keyboard is made up of 88 keys that occur in patterns.  There are two colors of keys - black and white.  The black keys occur in a pattern.  That pattern is 2 black keys - 3 black keys.  The white keys also occur in a pattern.  The  pattern is 3 white keys - 4 white keys.  Another pattern for the white keys occurs by their key name.  The pattern is A B C D E F G - A B C D E F G.

One of the most important Keys on the Keyboard is the C.  To find a C simply locate the 2 Black keys  The white key to the left of the first black key is the C.

Everything generally revolves around Middle C. Set down at the keyboard find the middle two black keys. Find the C and there you are Middle C.
